Our 2016 round up!
2016 was an amazing year here at Cred. We earned awards for multiple Fairtrade jewellery collections, helped to change the school lives of children in Santa Filomena and featured in a brand new book on sustainable living. Keep reading to see just how much we have achieved in just twelve short months.
Starting the year with a bang, we celebrated a high volume of sales and set the wheels in motion for a busy year.
February was the month that Liz Earle won the award for best new designer at the CMJ Spring Trade Event in Birmingham for her Fairtrade collaboration with us. Her botany inspired collection was designed and made in Fairtrade silver and gold by our team at Cred.
February was also the month we celebrated our first brand new collection of the year with the launch of our Fairtrade Signature Collection.
In March we were commissioned to design and create six Fairtrade silver medals which were presented by the Archbishop of Canterbury at his awards ceremony at Lambeth Palace.
Our beautiful Iconic Collection was also launched in March. The range features large ethical stones sourced from Canada.
April saw the launch of our stunning Clara Collection of Fairtrade engagement rings. Featuring ethical Canadian diamonds, the Clara Halo Solitaire Engagement Ring from the collection was voted a finalist in the Canada Mark Diamond Ring Competition.
In May our Managing Director Alan took a group of representatives from the UK and USA jewellery industry to one of our mines in Peru. The trip showed first-hand the importance of Fairtrade and how ethical sourcing has changed the lives of so many. We also got the opportunity to attend the grand opening of a new computer room in Macdesa’s school which was funded by Cred’s work.
From Peru to Madrid, June saw us attend the launch of the book Sustainable Luxury Pioneers featuring a chapter written by our MD on Fairtrade Gold.
July was the time to improve our customer experience and give our shop in Chichester and studio in London a revamp. The much needed makeover smartened up both spaces and included new imagery of the mines and miners we work with, visually connecting the dots between our miners who source the raw metals and our beautiful jewellery.
With wedding season in full swing, in August we had the launch of our stunning Fairtrade Gold Luminous Collection of ethical engagement rings.
In September we hosted our Peruvian miners to help raise awareness of Fairtrade Gold with Cred. We were also proud to announce that we hit a fundraising milestone having raised a fantastic £32,000 for communities in Peru.
As 2016 was the 20th year of Cred Jewellery, we celebrated with an in conversation evening at our London studio with our miners and the launch of our 20th anniversary Nouveau Collection. October was also the month in which Alan was invited to Peru to give the lead talk at the Peruvian Jewellery Conference in Lima about Fairtrade Gold.
Never ones to take a break, in November we launched our fashion forward Origins Collection. Featuring Fairtrade rose gold and silver pieces with striking enamel detail, the collection has received fantastic feedback from customers.
Finishing the year on a high, December saw us win The Best Ethical Collection at the Professional Jeweller Awards with our Fairtrade silver Nouveau Collection. We also hit the papers with articles on Fairtrade Gold featuring in both the Evening Standard and The Telegraph.
